Holiday Party

Yesterday was Brian's holiday party. It was held at the same house as it was last year. We had so much fun catching up with his coworkers and meeting new people! I made sure to make smart choices, food and beverage wise. I ate off a small plate and shared dessert with Brian. I also made my drinks into spritzers using white wine and San Pellegrino, cutting the calories in half. What are some smart choices you are making this time of year? I'd love to hear them!

Madison photo diary

A few weekends ago Brian and I went to Madison because he had some time off from work - which rarely happens. We decided to meet up with one of his high school friends and go to our favorite steakhouse The Tornado Room. I always have a great time in Madison and can't wait to go back!

Side note: Brian and I actually met in Madison back in 2006. He was in school at UW Madison and I had just graduated high school and needed a change of scenery. While working in retail I met this guy who was in the fraternity Chi Phi and said that the were having an "around the world" party - where each room was a different country and served that countries beverage of choice. So I decided to go since I was fairly new and wanted to get to know some people.

Brian was the first person I was introduced to but we didn't really hit it off right away. It took him 2 weeks to be exact to ask me out. On our first date we ended up going to this bar called the plaza to get a pitcher of beer. The plaza isn't the coolest, most luxurious bar, but we really got to know each other and had a lot of fun. Well the rest is history.

Seven years later here we are, the strongest we've ever been. I couldn't imagine life without him.

Grandma

Hi All! Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. I've been going through some tough family struggles recently. On March 20th my Grandma Betty passed away. It has been extremely hard for me. I've lived a very sheltered life, I've never really lost anyone close to me, except for family pets. I've been lucky enough to really get to know both of my Grandparents. This feeling doesn't comparing, it's pure raw emotion and it really sucks. I miss her so much!

My grandma and grandpa have always been there for me and my siblings. My dad is an only child so we were their only grandchildren so they always made sure we were taken care of. They were always giving us money for clothes and groceries and sending us letters via snail mail (I still have all of them). I remember onetime my grandparents were heading up north to visit my parents and they had to pick me up along the way. My Grandma knew raspberries are my favorite fruit so when they came to get me she had two containers waiting for me! Another fond memory I have is when I was young I would go over to my Grandmas house and I would head straight for her jewelry (she had the best costume jewelry)! I would wear her clip on earrings and necklaces while sing and dancing on their fireplace hearth (aka my stage).

It's so sad how fast time flies, seriously I feel like it was just yesterday we would go over to their house for Halloween or Christmas. Please, cherish and make memories with your loved ones while they're still around, because we never know what the future holds for us.

Random Rant and iPhone diary

I've been in a serious funk today. I'm not sure if it's just because it's Monday or hormones or what, but it didn't help that after my doctors appointment this morning the first thing that one of the assistant directors said to me at work was you're going to cover for Joan and then Cyndey. I was like uh hello to you too. They have this weird thing about people going to doctors appointments. I guess a lot of people have been taking time off. I clearly remember when I was hired that taking time off would not be a problem. Isn't it awesome when people lie? I start lead teaching this Friday, I'm hoping they won't treat me like their b*tch anymore. Doubtful. I said I'd give myself a year there (for the experience) but man sometimes it's a struggle.

Anyway, on a happier note Brian asked if I wanted to go out to eat tonight! He always knows how to make me feel better. I love him so!

Here are some photos of what has been going on in my life recently.

It makes my world go 'round
